Finding Academic Partners
Finding Academic Partners
The OAC values the mutual exchange of knowledge and expertise between community organizations and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health faculty who wish to work together to solve local health problems. To be eligible for funding, community organizations applying for Collaboration Implementation and Planning Grants must collaborate with a UW School of Medicine and Public Health faculty or academic staff member who is actively engaged in the project.
Who is an eligible academic partner?
We define “faculty” broadly to include UW School of Medicine and Public Health volunteer faculty located throughout the state who provide services in support of the School of Medicine and Public Health mission.
The following faculty and academic staff can serve as academic partners:
- Faculty on the tenure track
- Faculty on the clinical health sciences track
- Faculty on the clinician-teacher track
- Part-time faculty on all tracks
- Volunteer or non-salaried faculty of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health
- UW School of Medicine and Public Health academic staff
- Faculty from other UW schools and colleges who have or obtain by request an appointment in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health; This includes all UW System Campus and Extension faculty.*
*The Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health can make limited faculty appointments available to qualified UW faculty who wish to partner with a community organization. These appointments will be effective only for the duration of each grant. What is active engagement?
Active faculty engagement may range from a co-collaborator evaluation/research partner to serving in an advisory or consulting role, such as participation on an advisory committee, consulting in the development of the proposal or evaluation of the project.
How do I find an academic partner?
Community organizations can identify a faculty partner though our faculty partner data base. This data base includes School of Medicine and Public Health faculty who have indicated interest in partnering with community organizations to submit proposals. Faculty members state their research interests and areas of expertise linked to the state health plan. Please note that this list is not an exclusive representation of potential academic partners. Any UW School of Medicine and Public Health faculty OR academic staff member is eligible to serve as a partner.
We encourage you to review the information in our data base and initiate communication with potential academic partners.
